Handmade Victorian

Victorian Fashion

The term Bohemian is applied to those who live unconventional, artistic lives, the ‘free spirits’ who, consciously or unconsciously withdraw from conventionality in life and in art. Travellers and refugees from central Europe were the original ‘Bohemians’ wearing flowing handmade clothing in natural colours and shapes.

Victorian jewellery isn’t all about choker necklaces and cameo brooches. Encompassing more than 60 years, there are many diverse types of jewellery pieces and jewellery making styles that epitomise the different eras of the Victorian period.

For the most part, the bedroom furniture was only seen by the immediate family and the maids. But the Victorian ladies were very keen on the fact that servants had a tendency to gossip. Any signs that the family didn’t have funds would have spread fast and wide.

The interior Victorian paint colors are no short of being awesome with the right choice of furnishing and decors. If you are a person who is looking for the unique blend of antique and fashionable colors then there can be no better choice than the Victorian paint colors.

Victorian Lamp Shades almost always remind us of the glorious past that crowned the genre of the classy Victorian era. At present, these elegant items of the past have been preserved in the most refined manners known to humanity and are available for those who seek solace in the shades of their forefathers.

The Victorian lady wore petticoats and bustles under her dress. The corset was also an almost de rigueur element of underclothing. If you are purchasing a doll that includes underclothes, be certain they are consistent with the era’s norms.

Children were taught to respect their ‘betters’, never to swear and to treat those less fortunate in a polite way. The poor were taught to obey the rich, wives were expected to obey their husbands and children their parents.

Victorian Tea Party Ideas are the perfect party theme for girls. Don’t you remember your own childhood tea parties? Mine were spent with a plastic tea set and a guest list of stuffed animals and dolls. I remember how serious I was when I prepared my tea table with care.

Unfortunately, corsets in that period created several problems for women. It is probably because of the hard materials these were made of. Victorian women often fainted because they found it hard to breathe.

Vintage costume jewelry may be less expensive, but good quality ones are never seen as cheap. They are less costly because they are not made from precious gems. Designers of vintage costume jewelry use a variety of materials from cut glass, beads, semi-precious gems, faux gems — even plastic!.

Recycled fashion works as a double statement here – because everyone knows what it means, the statement a person wearing or using a recycled item of fashion makes is all about the ethics of commerce. Sounds tautological, but it actually makes a lot of sense.

What should i get my best friend for her birthday?

I have this friend, and she’s like my bfffl (best friends for friends and life) we’ve been friends for 5 years and we celebrate every holiday and event and vacation together, and it also happens to be that we happened to go to the same pre-school (didn’t know she was there when i was in pre-school though)and she also happens to live right behind my house! And this year is her b-day and i want to give her something really special (perhaps handmade?).Every time i ask her what she wants for her B-day, she just smiles and says “Anythings okay!”. But what i DO know because of years of friendship, is that she is interested in:
Victorian stuff
astrology
doing hairstyles
ballet
fun things
cute things

so….please help??
she does not like shopping for clothes and such….
she does not like shopping for clothes and such….and she’s not really like the girly type

maybe you can give her a certificate for a day at the spa… get her hair done, have fun, and then take her to the mall and take her to a store with cute, victorian clothes or items. and then also buy her like jewelry that has to do with her zodiac sign. and a bracelet with ballet shoes.
or a picture of little girls in a ballet room.
that just about covers everything right?
